For A Time
poem by e.e.cane
Jan. 10, 2021
where have they gathered?
hope lingers like
fragrance after footsteps
freedom steadily sweet
fading
came across america
imprisoned by fortune
many colors bold, shining,
the success of innocence
and happy-speak
it's pink now
the mist of forgetfullness
and betrayal
skin exploding new standards
this is the way
humanity lurches
cries and,
for a time,
remembers
